These Terms govern your use of BuildBrief. Please read them before submitting a request.
01Nature of the Service
BuildBrief provides construction consulting and decision-support information only. BuildBrief combines AI-assisted document analysis with review by an experienced general contractor.
BuildBrief's reviews are not, and should not be relied upon as:
- A home inspection
- A structural engineering report
- An architectural service
- An appraisal or property valuation
- A guaranteed construction cost estimate
- A code compliance determination
- Legal, financial, or investment advice
- A substitute for evaluation by an appropriately licensed inspector, engineer, architect, attorney, or contractor
Where a matter requires evaluation by a licensed specialist, BuildBrief will identify that in the review, but is under no obligation to identify every such matter.
02Not a Substitute for Your Decision
BuildBrief's reviews are informational and educational in nature. They are not a recommendation to purchase, renovate, hire, or decline to purchase any property or project, and do not make any decision for you. You are solely responsible for your own decisions, including whether to proceed with a purchase, renovation, contractor, or transaction, and for obtaining any additional professional evaluation you believe is warranted before doing so.
03No Guarantee of Completeness or Accuracy
Reviews are based solely on the information, documents, and photographs you submit. BuildBrief does not perform physical site visits, testing, or independent verification of any information provided. BuildBrief does not guarantee that a review will identify every issue, defect, concern, or risk associated with a property or project. Conditions not visible in submitted materials, undisclosed conditions, and conditions that develop after the review is delivered are outside the scope of the review.
04Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- BuildBrief, its owners, employees, and contractors are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from or related to your use of, or reliance on, any BuildBrief review or communication.
- BuildBrief's total liability for any claim arising from a specific review is limited to the amount you paid for that specific review or Advisor engagement, including any billed additional time.
- This limitation applies regardless of the legal theory asserted, including negligence, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
05No Professional Relationship
Use of BuildBrief does not create a contractor, engineering, architectural, inspection, or fiduciary relationship between you and BuildBrief. BuildBrief acts solely as an independent information and consulting service.
06Scope of Services Purchased
Construction Second Opinion and Property Construction Review are single, discrete reviews of the materials submitted at time of purchase. Follow-up questions, revisions, or review of additional documents may require a new purchase.
BuildBrief Advisor includes an initial four (4) hours of construction consulting assistance for a flat fee of $499. Additional assistance beyond the initial 4 hours is billed at $100 per 30 minutes (or fraction thereof), tracked and confirmed with you before being incurred. Large-scale document sets, extensive project management, site visits, detailed cost estimating, engineering, architectural services, formal inspections, or other professional services outside this scope are not included and may require a separate engagement.
07Turnaround Time
BuildBrief targets delivery of reviews within 48 business hours of receiving complete information, but this is a target, not a guaranteed deadline, and actual delivery may vary based on volume or complexity.
08Payment
All fees are due at time of purchase. The initial 4-hour Advisor engagement is paid upfront; any additional time beyond that is billed at $100 per 30 minutes and charged as incurred, with your confirmation before additional time is billed.
09Required Acknowledgment
Before submitting a request, you must affirmatively acknowledge the following statement:
"I understand that BuildBrief provides informational construction consulting only, is not a substitute for a licensed inspection, engineering, architectural, appraisal, or legal opinion, and does not make my purchase or renovation decision for me. I understand BuildBrief's liability is limited as described in these Terms of Service, and I agree to these Terms."
10Governing Law & Updates
These Terms are governed by the laws of the state in which BuildBrief's parent entity is organized, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. BuildBrief may update these Terms from time to time; continued use of the service after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
